I was stationed in Germany for most of the 80s, and my father used to send me video tapes of what I was missing in the U.S. I saw most of Moonlighting, Creepshow, and Night Flight, tape-delayed by a few weeks this way.
He knew I liked music and music videos, so he would include the occasional music video in between episodes of shows.
My Dad was fascinated by the “video single”/short film Blue Jean when it came out and called me to talk about it after he sent the tape. Bowie plays two different characters in the film and perform three different songs.
It would be considered long by today’s attention spans, but it’s worth watching and it is a wonderful example of Bowie’s wide range of talents.
We’ll miss you, Screaming Lord Byron.
