Now on Sale!

It's 1915, twenty years after the Martian invasion chronicled in H.G. Wells War of the Worlds failed. The aliens left behind advanced technology and weapons, and now humanity is on the brink of a catastrophic war. Caught in the middle of the chaos are two unlikely heroes: Emil Zimmerman, a young German soldier, and James Brogan, an introverted radio engineer.

Shadows of the Past is a science fiction, alternate history, survival adventure. Do you love War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells? Then this thrilling journey of humanity grappling with the legacy of Martian technology is the thrilling ride you're looking for.

Clouds of the Future: The Great War of the Worlds #2 is available for pre-order!

What happened after the Martian Attack chronicled in War of the Worlds ended?

The aliens succumbed to Earth's microbes, but left their weapons scattered across the globe.

Governments worked hard to take control over these deadly technologies, so they could keep it out of the hands of the wrong people, and use it for themselves.

They failed.

Kind of a scattered day. Managed to get a haircut, and got some writing done. But skipped Aikido because of tummy troubles.

Not much else to say. Headed to sleep soon.

Good morning!Good morning!

Wednesday, January 24th 2024, 8:36:22 am

I’m stealing this morning blog format from Warren Ellis. While his On Deck” is a hell of a lot more interesting to a hell of a lot more people, I like the accountability.

On Deck:  A ghostwritten programming tutorial and a novella for publishing on ReamStories.com. Cover for that book is also on order. Inbox: 30 Listening: Ruptures by Grandbruit.
Reading:  The Traitor God by Cameron Johnston. Last Watched: Connections S01E04 from 1978. (or 1977?) Lots of story ideas. Condition: 7 hours 31 minutes of sleep. Not enough.

Tuesday January 23, 2024. Evening.

Listened to the Police on my way to the dojo. They always get me fired up for a class.

Call, on the other hand, was grueling. Tuesdays tend be weapons and jo kata are always tough. I need to figure out a way to practice it at home more often.

Tuesday January 23, 2024. Morning.

How do we mark time? The ticking of the clock? The changing pages on the calendar? The multiplying gray hairs?

Candle Today the lighter I use every morning to light my candle ran out of fuel. I don’t remember when I opened the package and put it on the shelf by the altar, but it seems like it was years ago.

Woke up a little late. Freya was restless all night, which means I was too, of course.

Eighteen degrees outside during the walk, but the feels like” was in the mid-twenties. It was nice to feel the sun, especially on my hands when I had to take the gloves off.

The clear sky meant I could take a couple of nice photos.

Personally, I prefer the golf curse without the boring uniformity of the perfectly-manicured grass.

Took Freya on a side street we haven’t been on for a while and spotted this.

I guess this nest had been concealed by leaves? Pretty cool, now that it’s safe to get close enough to see it.

Got a lot of goodd work done today, but ended up skipping Aikido because the cold I seemed to have gotten over has returned. Bummer. Getting a little writing done before calling it a day.

See you tomorrow!
