It’s a holiday, which means…work! After a productive two days finishing assorted chores around the house, I can spend today working on The Great War of the Worlds. This latest chapter is progressing slowly, mainly because I need to stop changing my mind and pick a direction. On the other hand, things are progressing well on the weight loss front. I’m down a jean size, and I entered a contest over on dietbet.

Happy Valentine’s Day! If you read yesterday’s post you may have realized that our wedding anniversary is the day before Valentine’s Day. If you did some math you may have figured out that we were married on Friday, February 13th, 1987. Yeah. On Friday the 13th. We needed to get married quickly because I had already been stationed in Germany long enough that I needed a “good reason” to extend my tour even longer.

Today is my 33rd wedding anniversary. Well, it’s not just mine – I had help from the wonderful woman you see above. This is a picture of her patiently tolerating my tomfoolery in a restaurant somewhere. You can tell she’s being patient because she’s only threatening me with a butter knife. This time. Addendum to yesterday’s post: I found my stapler. Phew! I’m down three pounds in the past week. Finally broke through a three-week plateau! I’m in the midst of rewriting an early chapter in GWOTW. I may post it here when it’s done. Bis morgen!

Before succumbing to a nasty winter cold, I managed to rearrange my office. It has a lot more room for books now, and a snazzy whiteboard for storing Important Thoughts in a Visible Place. The office redesign part of creating a daily writing practice. I’ve already started a 5-day-a-week blogging practice. Even though many of the posts are brief and free of any encumbering content, they are there. I put virtual pen to virtual paper every weekday morning.

That Accountability Post

My weight has been yo-yoing for many years. I could offer just as many excuses, reasons, and justifications; but I won’t. This has been going on for a long time, and it’s my fault because after all, it’s my body and my mouth the food has been going into. I got fed up (ha!) with the current situation over the holidays and commenced dieting and exercise right after the New Year.

Good news, relatively speaking, at the doctor tomorrow. (I’m not saying more since it’s not about me.) Otherwise, it was a largely unproductive day. I have tickets to see 1917 tonight, but I find myself demotivated because of the crappy weather. I’ll need to make a call later today. Bis morgen!
